STAR CHEFS ‘COOK UP’ YET ANOTHER STELLAR SUCCESS

Rosemary Children’s Services’ An Evening With Star Chefs gala at Santa Anita Park raises $150,000 to benefit The Rosemary School for teenage girls

PASADENA, Calif. Los Angeles may have been in the midst of a record-breaking heat wave, but over 450 supporters gathered at the historic Santa Anita Park in Arcadia to help Rosemary Children’s Services (RCS) do some record breaking of its own and raise a cool $150,000 at its 45th annual "Evening With Star Chefs" gala. This year’s proceeds will benefit The Rosemary School, the agency’s non-public school for at risk, troubled teenage girls. "It was warm, no doubt about it," said Tamika Farr, Development Director. "But it didn’t stop anyone from turning out to help us continue to do the great work we do at The Rosemary School. This past week was graduation. The success stories the girls share – some are going on to college, some are getting jobs, some are amazed to be graduating at all – never fail to move me and amaze me. They’ve beaten some incredible odds. Thanks to our generous supporters, we can now offer our girls even more opportunities to excel."

One supporter in particular – Michaela Pereira, co-anchor of KTLA-TV’s Morning Show – was particularly generous, Farr added. Pereira had agreed to return, for the second year running, as Master of Ceremonies. "Michaela has so many organizations asking her to become involved," said Farr. "We are honored that she has become such a staunch supporter and friend to us."

Sandy Harris, chairman of the Star Chefs committee, had equal praise for the vendors. "What’s that expression? If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen," said Harris. "Well, this year, our vendors proved they are the best of the best. Star Chefs wouldn’t have been the stellar success it was without them."
