A new century…A new Chief Executive Officer…
A new era for Rosemary Children’s Services
Greg Wessels, CEO

In the spring of 2000, with the
strong encouragement of its Board of Directors, Rosemary Children’s
Services invited Greg Wessels to join its administrative team as Chief
Executive Officer. Wessels – who, prior to that, had served as Chief
Program Officer for Families First in Northern California – accepted
the offer and, today, oversees RCS's daily activities.
Under Wessels' tenure, RCS has
continued to thrive...and, most importantly, to grow. The number
of programs offered at the agency has increased significantly.
These include Day Treatment classes, a Group Centered Leadership
program and individual and family therapy sessions offered in
collaboration with the Department of Mental Health.
Additionally, Wessels coordinated efforts to establish a fourth group
home, the Green House. Funded through a contract with Los
Angeles County, the Green House enables RCS to help 6 additional
teenage girls.
Wessels has also built the agency
literally, guiding fundraising efforts that lead to the construction
of a new parking lot and sports court for the Cottage as well as a
landscaping overhaul. Thanks to Wessels, too, students at
Rosemary now attend classes in a remodeled facility on the Kinneloa
campus rather than study in a double-wide trailer.
"And all this was accomplished
on budget," says Board President Selwyn Brereton, a business
owner in Pasadena. "We're very fortunate to have Greg at
the helm of the agency. Undoubtedly he will continue to guide us
into new territory but, as a Board, we know it will always be in the
right direction."
A graduate of California State
University, Los Angeles who earned his Master's Degree from Columbia Pacific
University in Novato, California, Wessels has also served as Chief Operations
Officer for Guadalupe Homes and as the Director of Social Services for
the Idaho Youth Ranch in Boise and the Optimist Boys' Home in Los
Angeles. Today, Wessels makes his home in Sierra Madre,
California where, as a volunteer, he gives back to the community that
has so generously supported the agency he leads. In October
2005, he will become President of the Kiwanis Club of Pasadena.
